How to fix the unable to download app error on App store?

If you are not able to download any app from the app store, then it can be due
to many reasons. One of the most common reasons for this issue is your
connection problem. But, obviously, you can fix it very easily.

But you must ensure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or the cellular data
is on. So, let us have a look at the fixes for unable to download app error.

FIX 1 – AIRPLANE MODE

You can try to put your phone on airplane mode by going to settings and then
tapping on airplane mode. Wait for a while and then turn the airplane mode
back off.

FIX 2 – RESTART YOUR DEVICE

This is the most basic fix you can try while facing any such issues on your
device. Shut down your phone and wait for a while. Now, turn back on and see
if the error still persists.

FIX 3 – RESTART THE APP STORE

Double press the home button and swipe up the App store app. Now, launch it
back again.

FIX 4 – SIGN OUT AND SIGN BACK IN

Open your App store and scroll to the bottom. Now, locate your Apple ID and
choose Sign out. After that, sign back in using your Apple ID.

FIX 5 – UPDATE YOUR DEVICE

The error may be coming up due to an older version of iOS. Try to update your
device to the latest version. Just open settings and go to general and then
software update.

You must update your iOS from time to time so that all the bugs in the older
version can be solved.

FIX 6 – GOOGLE DNS

You can also try to change your domain name system (DNS) servers. To change
your DNS, just follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Open settings and then Wi-Fi.
  • Now, find your Wi-Fi name and press the (i) button next to it.
  • Click on DNS field.
  • Replace the current numbers with new Google DNS numbers – 8.8.8.8
  • Go back and your changes will be automatically saved.

FIX 7 – VPN

You can install a VPN (virtual private network) app such as Opera VPN to
download the app that you are not able to install from App store.

FIX 8 – FORCE RESTART

Another possible way to fix the problem is by force restarting your iPhone or
iPad.

FIX 9 – TRY ANOTHER INTERNET CONNECTION

You can try connecting your iPhone or iPad to any other Wi-Fi connection.
There is a possibility that you are facing the issue due to problem in your
internet connection.

FIX 10 – TIME SETTINGS

Open your date and time settings and turn on the Set Automatically feature.
Also, make sure that the time zone entered by you is correct.
If your date and time settings are accurate, and setting it to Automatic does
not help, turn off the Set Automatically feature and set your date to some
future date and time and then see again. If you still get the error, turn on the
Set Automatically feature again and move on to the next fix.

FIX 11 – RESTART YOUR ROUTER

You can try to restart your router and see if it is the root of the problem. Just
unplug it from the power source and wait for a while. Now, plug it back.

FIX 12 – POWERCYCLE

Just follow the steps mentioned below to fix the issue –

  • Turn off your device
  • Disconnect the modem and router from power source
  • Now, connect your modem and wait until it is completely on.
  • Connect your router and wait until it is completely on.
  • Now, turn on your iPhone or iPad and attempt to download the app
    again.

All the above mentioned fixes are meant to solve your fix. This problem
generally arises due an error with internet connection as you are not able to
reach the Apple servers.
