As in the story of the Breath of the Wild, there are several areas that were designed for particular points. Now, as those points are gone, Nintendo can change those areas to fit their new story in it. They might decide to be some areas as they were original.
It has been long since any official announcement has been made about the development of the Breath of the Wild 2. The nearest was the update from Nintendo and some comments by the developers working on the game.
A Twitch streamer revealed some information about the change in the map.
“Unlike the first part, the game will be linear at the beginning. Canonically, Link already knows Hyrule, so there is no point in climbing the towers again”
Those who have played the original Breath of the Wild, you might be aware that Link remembered nothing about his Hyrulian surroundings when he woke up from a 100-year slumber.
In BOTW 2, Link will already have recaptured his memories, so the map of Hyrule will be familiar to him. This means Link will have to pass his time by doing other missions rather than discovering new places in Hyrule.
