Based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando Leon Gonzalez, and Eric Skillman and directed by Sam Hargrave came up with an American thriller action movie in 2020 called as the EXTRACTION. The film was exclusively released on Netflix on 24 April 2020.
The movie stars some of the most preferred and loving actors of the industry like Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu Painyuli and David Harbour. They follow a black ops mercenary to rescues India’s drug lord son who is held captive in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Netflix has truly scored a thriller.
Though the movie was loved by the fans but wasn’t appreciated much by the critics. The movie got labelled as “ NO MAN, ALL FIGHT” and the “ WHITE SAVIOUR”. Let’s start with the positives of the movie though it is believed that there are NOT many. There is a huge and blockbuster cast of the movie which attracts most of the people to it. This is a perfect movie for those who love action became the movie is packed tight maybe more than that of a chimichanga with action and thrill. Chris Hemsworth is one of the major reasons for people to watch The Extraction.
Talking about the contrary the plot of the movie seems to have been given no importance at all. All they have done is shot it up with thrill and action.
The story of the movie is similar as Netflix going into a big warehouse, pulling a script out of a box labelled “Generic Action Movie No. 2”, and casting the biggest star they could in the lead to make sure it drew viewers.
The movie also falls under the category of messy action where there is blood all over the place after one shot or one fight over. In this film, it just so happens that every person who is hurting tends to bleed a lot. It’s sort of watching a bunch of Capri-Sun juice packets with firecrackers in them
Though the work done by all the actors is recommendable the movie is not so worth suggesting to anyone as a white guy with some of his previously held problems enters and makes an excuse for slaughtering a dozen of men which does not make sense to me.
If Netflix described the movie is “Rival drug lords, A kidnapped kid, Impossible odds. What starts as just another mission turns into his best shot at redemption.” But to my view it is all about where to hit the shot, the headshot, chest shot, arms shot or how to kill anyone without an appropriate reason to it
The movie holds an average approval rating of 6.06/10 and fairly is criticised or has mixed reviews.
