A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player summons a glitch that let them play in a third-person perspective. This doesn’t seem bad though.
This first-person shooter series never lets the player to change the perspective of the camera. Redditor Tkade14 found themselves playing in the third-person after a glitch during some sort of revive.
The video in the above link shows Tkade14 running around the Shoot House map on the PlayStation 4-exclusive Survival mode, in third-person, killing AI enemies with a knife. While the character runs about unrealistically fast, the movement looks fluid, and the camera position gives a proper view of the action, following the character swiftly even when it slides and during knife attacks. It is also seen that the soldier fires a pistol in third-person after being wounded. We also see the red hit marker when Tkade14 lands a killing shot.
How did this glitch happen in Call of Duty?
According to Tkade14, the glitch happened when they were being revived. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, as a teammate revives your downed character the camera shortly pulls out into third-person. Tkade14 said: “Once I was revived, it didn’t go back to first-person.”
Tkade14 isn’t the only player to face this glitch. A YouTube channel called “The Gaming JELLY” has a video of Modern Warfare’s Survival mode played in third-person, this time with a lot of gunfire too. The camera actually moves in when aiming down sights, which is how a third-person shooter actually works. “I was [sic] just playing Survival mode when a player went down. Went to go revive him when he/she left putting me in this cool glitch,” The Gaming JELLY explained in the video description. “I hope they bring a third-person game mode, it was fun.”
The Modern Warfare series has (officially) occurred in third-person before. Modern Warfare 2’s Team Tactical mode allows the players to play with the camera pulled back, which gives it a feel of Ghost Recon.
