A fully functioning PC port of Super Mario 64 has been launched online. The port shows the game running at 4K and with ultra-widescreen support. The latest fan project gets a big screen. The fan-made port which was shared on the social media sites this weekend was made possible by a 2019 recompilation project, which faced the fans to reverse engineer the game’s source code.
Many classic games have faced modders and hackers for a long time who try to push anything and everything to get to know about the new secrets. But very very of them have been seen altering with Super Mario 64.
Unlike PC emulators which alter the conditions of the original N64 hardware, the DirectX 12-powered port allows players to run Mario 64 at a higher resolution without compromise, such as native 4K or in ultra-widescreen mode.
This fan-made project has grabbed the attention of many folks. The port was first summoned on sites like YouTube in the last weekend.
Players can use other peripherals like Xbox One controller to play the game. The port also allows third-party software like ReShade which adds a number of modern visual effects like depth of field effects to the game.
