The Legend of Zelda Project, which was once in progress at Retro Studios has been cancelled now. Retro Studio is the developer owned by Nintendo who was behind Metriod Prime.
The ideas for the project have been shown off in many galleries of concept artwork. These artworks were drawn by the former Retro Studious contract artist Sammy Hall.
The theme of the game was expected to be dark. The story behind it was based on the origin tale of the master sword with a bad ending. This story contained Link who failed to defeat Ganon in Ocarina of Time.
But now, Legend of Zelda the series hero Link is not present in any of the artworks now. His place has been replaced by a new male character called as Sheik. Sheik normally represented as a hidden guise for Zelda.
Hall wrote alongside one gallery- “Fun pre-pre-pre-production origin story of the Master Sword, within the bad ending of Ocarina of Time exploring the last male Sheik’s (after a genocidal ethnic-cleansing) journey transforming into the Master Sword.Legend of Zelda All while the Dark Gerudo are giving their 100 year birth to Ganon.”
The images depicted petrified Deku tree, a dark Windfish like organism known as the KindlerFish, a version of Majora’s Mask’s Clock Town, Dark Gerudo tribe and all sorts of weird landscapes, creatures and opponents.
Hall’s artworks are worth the time taken for browsing.
