“A functioning & growing economy is like an system for livelihoods. A lockdown weakens that system and most hurts the impoverished in our society,” Mahindra said. On Monday the leading industrialist Anand Mahindra said that if there is a longer extension of lockdown then the country will be “risking economic hara-kiri”.
If the lockdown is further extended it would affect weak people very badly but the lockdown period have saved lakhs of lives. While in a tweet Mahindra said”The number of new cases has risen, despite flattening the previous few days. With higher testing, a unbroken rise is inevitable given the low absolute number of cases relative to our population & the remainder of the planet .
We shouldn’t expect a swift flattening of the curve.” In the end of the tweet he had said “But that doesn’t mean that lockdown has not helped us.”He also said that the goal of the country should be preventing avoidable deaths. The country’s efforts to be made to protect vulnerable medical and the elderly sections of the society.Besides, the focus should not through zones but at sub pin code levels and should be on the areas of containment. To sum up, he also said”We have to live with the virus. It’s not here on a tourist visa with an expiry date.”
