With Peaky Blinders opening its fifth season wit a band and shutting it with the cliff hanging finale has life all of us curious and craving for the sixth season f the show. The season 5 ended with a dark and gloomy ending the same is expected to revere with the season 6.
The show has had high extremes and deep low craters in its plotline taking it to win the National Television Award for Best Drama.
The viewers can’t even wait for the season but it seems that they might have to wait for a little longer now. All the shooting and production of movies and series have to a halt with the wide spread effect of the corona virus pandemic with Peaky Blinders being one of them.
Initially it was expected that the season might air by the end of this year but looking at the current situation it seems difficult. The new episodes are written and had also gone under pre production when the pandemic took everything to hold, but one thing is for sure even if the season comes late but it will come for sure.
The creator of the show Steven Knight said in a BBC article that he had finished writing a couple of articles before the lockdown itself. He tols BBC in December that “I’ve just finished writing series six and it’s the best yet, but we always say that.”
The following month, series director Anthony Byrne confirmed on Instagram that the series had gone into pre-production.
The story of the series revolves around a gangster family set in Birmingham in 1919 after the First World War. The plot sets through the lives of Peaky Blinders and their boss Tommy Shelby and their feat every now and then.
The new season will take place during the times of Great Depression , in UK the unemployment rate and poverty levels were shooting up and the worst came when their economy couldn’t rebound till the end of the decade.
The same cast shall resume from the season 5 with some new additions to them. Season six will include Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Helen McCrory as Aunt Polly, Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Harry Kirton as Finn Shelby, and Natasha O’Keeffe as Lizzie Stark. One character whose return is not clear is of Alfie Solomans and nothing about the character has been said by the makers.
